By car
The historic centre of Florence historic centre is a restricted traffic zone (ZTL) secured by telematic access gates.
If you are coming by car, you must park it outside the city centre. You may leave your car at the Villa Costanza car park, and then take the tram, line 1, to the Santa Maria Novella Train Station. Or, you can park in one of the paid parking lots, such as the one in Piazza della Stazione or at the Mercato Centrale (Firenze Parcheggi), and then walk to Via Cavour (about 5–10 minutes).
By plane
Florence’s Amerigo Vespucci Airport is located about 6 km from the Santa Maria Novella Train Station and is well served by public buses (including the “Vola in Bus” line, which runs to the Busitalia station near Piazza Stazione).
Directions
Palazzo Medici Riccardi is located in the centre of Florence, near Piazza Duomo, and is easily reached on foot, by bicycle, and by public transportation.
Access to the museum is from Via Cavour, 3.
Access for visitors with impaired mobility is from Via Ginori, 2.
